Because Slayer and Megadeth were unable to complete all the previously scheduled American Carnage tour dates due to a back injury, the duo have rescheduled those dates for this summer and are heading to the U.S. in August!
The 19-city U.S. tour kicks off on Aug. 11 in Glen Falls, N.Y., and runs through Sept. 4 in Portland, Ore.
Four shows that didn’t appear on the original schedule have also been added: Aug. 18 at the Time Warner Cable Amphitheater in Cleveland, Ohio; Aug. 23 at the Capitol Federal Park in Bonner Springs, Mo.; Aug. 29 at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, Calif.; and Sept. 4 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif.

As news of Ronnie James Dio’s death swept through the heavy metal world, dozens of admirers, and fellow musicians chimed in to express their sympathies and sadness.
Among the mourning minions is Slayer guitarist Kerry King. Slayer Frontman Tom Araya recently broke his silence with his first post-surgery interview on Noisecreep.com.
Tom Araya was experiencing severe back pain as a result of decades of headbanging –his signature helicopter and figure eight style headbanging–and the abnormal positioning of injured discs in he neck. Last fall Slayer had abruptly stopped their highly anticipated Carnage Tour with Megadeth and Testament. The band made this decision due to Tom Araya needing back surgery.
Araya is already benefiting from the surgery and states he felt immediately felt the difference. It has only been a few months since the procedure, and Tom is recovering well. He’s anxious to get back on the road. The complete interview features more details of Tom’s surgery and the plans Slayer has for upcoming Carnage dates.
The surgery was not an end for Slayer or Tom, who will continue to sing and play bass, but keep the headbanging to a minimum. Slayer tickets from the previous tour may be honored at the rescheduled shows, but you should check with your local venue to be sure.

There’s some good news and bad news for Slayer fans.
First the good news: Slayer’s album Hate Worldwide was nominated for a Grammy Award for the the ‘Best Metal Performance.’ They do have some stiff competition going against “Dissident Aggressor” by Judas Priest; “Set To Fail” by Lamb of God; “Head Crusher” by Megadeath; and “Senor Peligro” by Ministry.
In the 2007 and 2008, Slayer won in the same category for “Eyes of the Insane” and “Final Six,” respectively.
The 52nd annual Grammy Awards return to Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 31, and will air at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
Now the bad news: Slayer was forced to cancel their worldwide tour, all 49 dates between Jan. 18 and April 5 due to singer/bassist Tom Araya’s back problems. Araya’s problems began last October, and he was diagnosed with Cervical Radiculopathy, which caused him to experience severe pain, muscle spasms and numbness.
